Shenzhen's exports in the first half of the year increased by 14.4% year-on-year

In the first half of 2023, the cumulative import and export of Shenzhen was 1.68 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.7% year-on-year (the same below), and the growth rate was faster than the national average. Among them, the export was 1.05 trillion yuan, up by 14.4 percent; Imports totaled 628.49 billion yuan.

The reporter learned from Shenzhen Customs that in the first half of 2023, Shenzhen's cumulative imports and exports were 1.68 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.7% year-on-year (the same below), a growth rate faster than the national average. Among them, the export was 1.05 trillion yuan, up by 14.4 percent; Imports totaled 628.49 billion yuan.

Overall, the import and export of Shenzhen in the first half of the year maintained a steady growth trend, the economy has strong resilience, great potential, and sufficient vitality, and the long-term fundamentals have not changed. Especially in June, the import and export of 322.97 billion yuan, an increase of 5.3%, foreign trade further stabilized.

In the first half of the year, Shenzhen's general trade import and export accounted for more than half, with imports and exports of 878.72 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8%, accounting for 52.4% of the total value of Shenzhen's imports and exports in the same period (the same below). In the same period, the import and export of bonded logistics was 411.28 billion yuan, an increase of 9.1%, the growth rate was 5.4 percentage points faster than the overall, accounting for 24.5%. In addition, the import and export of processing trade reached 374.6 billion yuan. The import and export scale of private enterprises has been growing, becoming the main driving force for foreign trade growth. The dynamic private enterprises, mainly small and micro enterprises, continued to expand, and the import and export of private enterprises in Shenzhen was 1.07 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.2%, accounting for 64%, driving the growth of Shenzhen's foreign trade by 5.6 percentage points in the same period. During the same period, foreign-invested enterprises and state-owned enterprises imported and exported 498 billion yuan and 103.4 billion yuan respectively.

In the first half of the year, Shenzhen's imports and exports to Hong Kong, ASEAN, the European Union and the United States were 273 billion yuan, 256.41 billion yuan, 190.49 billion yuan and 176.25 billion yuan, up 3.1%, 4.1%, 12.7% and 2.7% respectively, accounting for more than half of the total, reaching 53.5%. In addition, the import and export to India, Australia and the United Kingdom were 37.73 billion yuan, 32.51 billion yuan and 29.32 billion yuan, up 40.5%, 65.3% and 16.9%, respectively, with a faster growth rate. In addition, imports and exports to RCEP member countries totaled 443.57 billion yuan; Imports and exports to countries and regions along the Belt and Road reached 425.84 billion yuan, up 14.5 percent, or 25.4 percent.

Exports of mechanical and electrical products accounted for over 70%, and exports of labor-intensive products grew rapidly. In the first half of the year, Shenzhen exported 784.88 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 9%, accounting for 74.9% of the total export value of Shenzhen in the same period (the same below). The "new three" products such as lithium-ion batteries, electric manned vehicles and solar cells were exported to 31.94 billion yuan, 8.07 billion yuan and 1.39 billion yuan respectively, up 36.3%, 943.2% and 31.8%. In the same period, the export of labor-intensive products was 112.84 billion yuan, up by 33.9%, accounting for 10.8%; Seven categories of labor-intensive products have maintained growth and export value of more than 10 billion yuan. In addition, the export of electronic cigarettes was 26.2 billion yuan, an increase of 35.8%.

In terms of imports, mechanical and electrical products accounted for more than three-quarters, and imports of gold and agricultural products increased. In the first half of the year, Shenzhen imported 477.24 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, accounting for 75.9% of the total import value of Shenzhen in the same period. In the same period, the import of gold was 23.02 billion yuan, an increase of 31.1%. Imports of agricultural products reached 53.26 billion yuan, up 8.6%. Among them, meat, edible aquatic products and alcohol and beverages increased by 25.8%, 44.5% and 28.1%, respectively.
